Camstar has a Field Day
for Regenerative Agriculture
The Camstar Regen Ag day brought growers alongside specialists to continue the journey towards a fully regenerative food system. In conjunction with Griffiths foods and Hutchinson's we had a really good look at a test field planted with a good selection of cover crops.

Hutchinsons' Ian Robertson says "Before doing anything, it is important to stop, take a step back and consider what the soil actually needs." To show willing he descends into a specially dug hole to get a real look at the soil structure. |

Ed Brown emphasises that while protecting the surface of the soil from the elements is essential not all cover crops are equal. For instance he notes that the daikon radish has a root that penetrates deep into the soil. |
We also got a look at some of the latest technology. The optical recognition system in this sprayer is able to identify weeds and treat them selectively. Notably Operations Director Gavin Keach and Estate Manager Tim Stammers were more impressed by "the size of the tractor".
A thought provoking day, but all scepticism seemed to vanish when at the end of the event it became time to enjoy the hog roast.
