2022 Camomile Harvest Complete

The almost complete absence of rain had really slowed growth of our camomile plants this year, and come harvest time they were noticeably low to the ground. Above we see the camomile being cut and left to dry for a couple of days. In damp years it can be turned to help drying, but this time we only had to combine the rows together ready for the harvester.

The harvester ready for action.

One of the mobile stills.

Once full the mobile stills are taken off to the distillery.

The steam distillation process hasn't really changed since Roman times, here we see the separators at the outlet from the condensers.

While the crop may be a bit smaller this year, the colour is excellent. A sign of very good quality.
